Our Trust is proud to announce that we are starting the new school year with a new name.
Futura Learning Partnership is the name chosen by the former Wellsway Multi Academy Trust, which runs 13 schools in Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
The Trust decided the change was needed to better reflect its schools and the 6,000 children and young people and 800 staff within them.
Chief Executive Andrea Arlidge explains: “When we began in 2014, we chose to name the Trust after the founder school, Wellsway. Our growth over seven years has brought us to a point where we feel the need for an identity that shows we are truly one organisation in which every school is an equal.
“The name chosen – after consulting widely with students, staff, and governor s– is forward looking, while acknowledging our history: Futura comes from the Wellsway School motto Futura Aedificamus, which means ‘We build for the future’.
“Learning is our fundamental purpose while partnership underpins everything we do. Collaboration has been the key to our success so far; it is one of our core values, along with aspiration, opportunity and respect. We are committed to continuing to develop common practices and approaches in pursuit of educational excellence.
“We are an inclusive Trust, providing seamless education for children from the moment they step through the doors of any of our family of schools until they leave us as young adults.
“This is a hugely exciting time for us: building work is under way on a new primary school to serve the growing population in East Keynsham; we are expanding our special school provision based at Aspire Academy in Bath and we have launched our Trust-wide post-16 provision, Futura Sixth.
“We look forward to continuing to work together to support all the schools in our Trust and every individual within them. With a strong track record in delivering educational excellence, we are also keen to main and develop our role supporting school improvement across our region.
“There are clear advantages to schools joining the Futura family. We are actively looking at recruiting more schools in the West of England region and possibly further afield if they fit with our vision and can help us develop our educational offer.”
Futura Learning Partnership launched on September 1 and has produced a short promotional film.
